  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

HP has just made LTO5 a 1.5Tb thumb drive.

+1 for BRU...best software for LTO available.

+1 again.

...I so wish they made BRU PE for Windows. I think they're somewhat interested, but supporting a massive explosion in customer base overnight if they released on Windows, seemed to be a scary prospect for them. At least that's the impression I got from Tim at NAB. I sure hope they do it someday though. Until then, there's BRU Server and it has Windows and Linux client software. Not a bad way to roll.

As BRU says on its opening screen "It's not about the backup... Its all about the restore"

Dont muck around..... buy an LTO 5 drive and SAS card then install BRU. It is rock solid.

BRU is supposed to be great but running LTFS on your LTO-5 drive means that you can just copy/paste files from the tape as if it was a hard drive or USB key. Archiving works the same way, just copy/paste onto the drive, you can even make folders on the tape if you need. LTFS is also a standard file system so you could read your LTFS tape on any machine/tape drive with the LTFS software.

As a Windows user I couldn't use BRU but LTFS on LTO couldn't be easier to use.
