  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

HP dreamcolor tinted magenta

Another thing you could try is calibrating it using the old version of HP APS. I found that the new version does not work with the eye one or at least does not give you proper results. I had a magenta issue as well then went back to 1.1.0 and all was good

Nice, this is getting more and more interesting...
I've got the new HP advance calibration device, and borrowed another dreamcolor from a friend.

After calibrating the monitors with the new probe, they look pretty much the same. Yeih! That means my monitor does not seem to be broken.
But lets not cheer too much, because now... they look green. Ha!
This calibration was done under windows 7.
Now since I also have a mac, I tried calibrating the monitor in Mac OS 10.8 and what do I get? Magenta tint!!!!!!!!!! Nothing makes sense!!!! :hurray::hurray::hurray:

I've been through the same ordeal Miguel :-). I got the calibration device. It's not very accurate, and I got the whole problem with green on the DC and magenta on my MBP.

I contacted HP and went through the story in detail including pictures of the results. They took pity on me and gave me a monitor with zero hours on it and it's pretty good. I keep it on factory default. I suggest that you do some color work on the DC then compare it on as many monitors you can including the iPad which I am told is pretty good for calibration. Once you know you can trust your monitor to a certain degree that's at least something.

What I plan to do is get the software and a probe from http://www.lightillusion.com/index.html. They use this software at Park Road Post in NZ so you know it's good (it works 100 percent of the time - every time). No seriously, it's a standard and a must if you want to do 'color critical' work.

edit: also make sure you're not working under some ICC profile on your OS. Just feed the images from the OS unadulterated to the monitor factory defaults.

Thanks man, the issue here is that I have 2 Dreamcolors side by side, and the results are the same...

I've had similar things happen. Try calibrating with another computer, even if it isn't yours. Try different software versions including the operating system. Once you get a good calibration you're good to go. I've had success with windows 8. Also try different usb ports.
