  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

How would I export a RAW image sequence?

I've got some stuff shot on a RED One and want to convert that to a RAW image sequence (there's a prog I'm using that will only work with single RAW images).

How do I do that? Been driving me nuts this!

I'm on a Mac, and have FCP and CS5.

Cheers! :emote_hippie:

I'm guessing he's doing something with Photoshop or Lightroom or something similar.

To answer the original question: Not possible. You can export single-frame R3Ds, yes, but those aren't readable by any photographic apps. I'm assuming by "Export RAW" you mean "Export to DNG/CR2/NEF/Etc" and there's no way to do that.

It's for some tests to try to create moving HDR images for which we need to process a RAW sequence. I'm aware the resultant RAW images will be HUGE.

No easy way then of de-compressing the R3D to RAW then..?

There are many different flavors of RAW for stills cameras. R3D IS a flavor of RAW, but only readable by the appropriate software. You get all the latitude in a 16 bit TIFF, though, which can be exported from RCX and is read by most HDR software.
Don't expect too much, though, IMHO all current HDR software is working well only for stills. You'll see strange fluctuations in motion, if Sanjin is not proving to the contrary (check the HDRx thread under Recon).
