  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

How will this affect the future of lenses?

I wondered about this as well!... but after reading around and pondering it I concluded that the practical implementation of this ‘formulaic solution’ are not likely to surface in cine lenses for a very long time.

Perhaps someone more knowledgeable will offer up some more coherent thoughts than mine.

That said, and on a separate train of optical thinking, I do think there has been a bit of a jump (albiet small) in optics recently... for example our Cine Sigma 28mm (designed last in that series) seems a fair bit better than the other cine Sigmas ?

PS Selfishly my interest was part motivated by my considerable investmnt in Cine optics!

In general lens design has leaped forward in the last handful of years, thanks to computer modeling software allowing people to virtually test and design prototypes without having to first making a physical copy in every instance like they did back in the bad old days
