  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I'm curious...I know we all get really excited about this new stuff, but I'm trying to figure out our new workflow once we get this thing...

We presently take all of our R3D's, adjust the RSX in REDCine and then transcode to Prorez HD files in Clipfinder for actual online editing sessions. We obviously play out real time via an AJA LHe to a client monitor while viewing on our Panasonic 24" HD monitor for the editor.

With RED Rocket, how will this change? Does anyone know for certain that we will now be able to play back the R3D's real time, HD quality to do real time editing? IF we decide to transcode to Prorez still, does this card radically increase render times?

Again, I've been waiting for a card like this and have said for a while it would easily be worth $5k to have it. But I do wonder about real-world performances. The ability to "play back" R3D files is great, but I'm hoping they are integrated into editing software and can be shown real-time to a client. (Yes, I read the comment about "anything supporting the SDK...but I'm still curious if this will work just as an HD file would...)

Thanks!

Kevin
