  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

How to shoot traffic "light streaks" with the Red?

can u use a stills camera instead? better for this kind of stuff. Though u can do something similar with 1fps and 360 degree shutter, and some help from post =)

Yep. You need a very slow shutter for this and the Red can't shoot an exposure longer than one second. Stills camera is the answer, unless there's some secret mojo I don't know about.

Doing this in post is really never the same and the stills camera approach is certainly cheap.

Good shooting and best regards,

Leo

Yeah, this was definitely done on a still camera with an intervalometer. You can probably pick one up for $50-100. If it's 9 seconds long, over the course of 9 hours, they probably set it up to take a 2 or 3 second long exposure once every couple minutes.
