We all know the search on reduser really sucks. Well - use Google instead. In case you didn't know - you can add "site:reduser.net" in your search to limit your Google search to this site. Pretty effective. Like this:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site:reduser.net+loose+connector&btnG=Søg&meta=

Enjoy!

PS: Jarred - if you're reading this - please (if money is available for it) hire someone to extend the forum software's search capabilities. Or maybe someone here on REDUser has the PHP experience and might be able to help you (unfortunately I'm a .NET guy myself).

It's vbulletin isn't it? Most forum searches are pretty bad so I wouldn't put it on Jarred.

I think the biggest problem with the search, is when you know the title or a portion of the title of a thread, but when you search for it turns your search into key words, instead of searching thread titles for a close match.

Maybe you can past that by selecting "Search Titles Only" though (never used it)?

EDIT: Just tried it, find one of the threads I was looking for, but can't find the other through the search.

I know and I'm not blaming him at all. I'm pretty sure it's possible to customize it, though.

Could also be that the system has been limited in terms of searchability (is that even a word) because of speed issues. Search can (if not implemented with great care) suck the life out of your server in no time. I know because I've overhauled a couple of sites in my time where I was able to get a server with a constant CPU load of 65% down to 5-7%.
