Not sure if this is the correct forum. I'm waiting to get in my S-W package. Should be in fairly high demand where I am. I was wondering what you people who rent out your equipment generally require? Proof of insurance? Collateral? Contracts? I just wouldn't want to be left hanging with a bill if my equipment comes back with sand stuck in the fans, or equipment that may not come back at all. Any links to necessary forms would be appreciated as well. Thanks.

I would consider leaving it with a Rental house. And getting your own insurance.

You would def need to demand insurance FROM whoever is renting as well, at a minimum.

if you're in LA or NYC, go through ShareGrid. They verify the renters insurance, handle payment, etc. They take a cut obviously, but it works really well.

Always make sure that they provide you with a COI of insurance. If its somebody you have not worked with before make sure you call the insurance company and make sure the COI is legit. Make sure you get all their info and a scan of their photo ID. Also make sure your insurance has fraud covered. If somebody doesn't bring the camera back you'll want to be insured for that but that is not part of usual camera insurance. This type of insurance is expensive so if you're not renting your camera often, it may make sense to not rent it at all (or only to close trusted friends) and therefore not need this insurance.
