Hey guys, I've had this issue come and go before and I feel like I solved it once and can't recall how, but on my new M1 Macbook Pro I don't get the handy thumbnail preview of R3D clips that I get on my much older Macbook - which saves a lot of time from having to browse clips in REDCine X when all you want to know is a quick glance of what clips you're looking at. Does anyone know what I could be missing to get this feature back on my newer Mac? I've installed the latest REDCine X, set it as the default program to use with R3D files - I don't see the RED Watchdog icon in my menu bar anymore which I'm not sure if that could have anything to do with it. But RED's website says it automatically installs Watchdog and not sure how to separately download that if need be.
Thanks for any tips.

Hey Ryan,

If you install REDCINE-PRO 55.1.52132 that should re-enable the thumbnail preview.
I'm on Mac OS Ventura 13.6.1 and it works.
You can still install the latest RCX
61.1.2 and the thumbnails maintain.
Note- I did keep the REDCINE-PRO 55.1.52132 folder on my system (renamed the folder) just in case
but not sure if that is necessary.
Apparently there are a few files that were included in earlier RCX builds that are missing from the latest RCX.

Hope this fixes things until RED officially includes the seemingly missing files for thumbnails.

Just noticed, the above R3D thumbnail hack does not work with Komodo X or V-Raptor XL footage.
Perhaps they are too new to be supported by an older REDCINE version like 55.152132
Hope RED can update the software to restore this thumbnail functionality in OS X across all RED cameras.
This is a good place to start in letting RED know.

Hey, realize this is well over a year ago now but just wanted to thank you for your response, also I still wish this feature would come back and I'll be requesting it in the link you provided. Thanks again.

Checking in on this one again and it looks like it's still not possible to get R3D previews in Quicklook. Has anyone found a third party Quick Look extension that supports R3Ds?
