Ughhh... I've been dreading asking this out loud, super embarrassing, but I couldn't find it anywhere on the topics, just people telling what names they have for their Scarlet. I'm assuming it's beyond easy since nobody else has asked this... but where to you change the "name" of your Scarlet? Is there a menu path handy?

Naming a Red camera is just tradition but you do not have to name if you do not want to. However, if you do name it and you want to have it know its name so that when you connect to a redmote it shows up correctly. You can do that in the communication tab.

Settings> Setup> Communication > Enter Name

Hope all is well,

Don't forget to sprinkle it with some dry water as you christen it.

Okay, perfect... exactly what I was looking for.

It's kinda funny, a show I work on, their camera (an Epic) is named R2D2 on the clips, thought that was kinda cool how it was personalized. Mine is lame, just the generic "001", I'm calling HIM "Jordan" because the deal with the wife was that I got to name my second-born "Jordan" (yes, like Michael, but it works for a boy or girl name) if I let her name our first-born daughter. Second daughter came... I got vetoed again :)

Definitely a fun little way to personalize these and I love that RED does that, ya know? It's unlike other companies that just roll out their cameras with no input, no messageboards, nothing... it's just "here's our camera... buy it if you want... bye." I love Nikons for how smooth and rich the video is... (obviously not on the Scarlet/Epic level) but everything is a big mystery with them... you don't hear anything for a year or so from R&D, then suddenly there's a new camera out... then nothing for years, then something else comes out without the adjustments that people want (like 60 fps). Sony, Panasonic, Canon... same thing basically. With RED, they're all over this board, they give a damn about what we think... they're building the cameras for us, taking our real-world input instead of doing a 'focus group' like some companies.
