How to mount a shotgun mic to a Scarlet?

I've been trawling through the Red store and looking at renders of the Scarlet and Epic trying to figure out a way to mount a shotgun mic to the top of either the Scarlet 2/3 interchangeable or fixed models. What I've figured out so far, and please correct me if I'm wrong, is I would first need to use the top mount listed on the Scarlets spec's page, then feed a couple of rods through that.

After that is where I get a bit fuzzy. I'm just wondering what kind of attachment would I use to hold the mic in place on the rods? And this goes for the LCD as well, as i'm guessing that would need to be held in place by a similar method. I've also glanced at the cheese graters and other accessories listed on the store, but the whole thing is just confusing.

Maybe some existing Red One owners who have had experience mounting mic's to their Rigs would know, as I'm guessing the scarlet would work in a similar fashion. Or just anyone who knows more about this stuff than i do, which wouldn't be difficult to find.

Thanks in advance.

My guess is that things will all become clear as the time comes near for Scarlet to be released. I am sure there are a lot of accessories for Scarlet and Epic that are not yet in the RED store and at least a few that have never been in the many renders of the Scarlet configurations over the last several months. Patience is probably warranted in this case.

The best option is DON'T. For the best audio you can get it is always better to get the mic as close as you can to the sound or talent you are recording. For the sake of your production don't mount a microphone to your camera.

The majority of the time I'll be using a shotgun mounted on a boom pole plugged into the XLR plugs on the Pro IO module, but I would still like to have the option to mount it on the top of the camera if I ever needed to. Or just use the mic on the camera as a backup to one on a boom pole, or something like that.

Anyway thanks for all your quick replies.

I'm sure there are mounts around that would mount to one of the threaded holes on top of the brain. You can also mount a shoe on it if you have a shotgun mount that has a shoe attachment.

Assuming that your production allows for such a thing. While I myself don't find it challenging, it's difficult for most to clip a lav to a bear while it's sleeping.

Shotgun mics on Scarlet will be VERY COMMON. Looks like there will be lots of solutions -- most shock mounts can screw right onto the body or onto a piece like a top mount, bridge mount, etc.. The RED Gunner looks like it can hold a mic too. Scarlet will be widely used for EFP / ENG and documentary purposes. Don't assume everyone is going to be doing narrative production on a controlled set.

Jeff - You just sneak up on it quietly! Just make sure you budget for a lot of lavs throughout the year!! Now putting a mic on a shark is another matter - I hear they never sleep!
