Hello! I have a question. We have a RED archive of more than 1500 clips. With which programm can we manage the RED files? For example search for metadata, view thumbnails etc.
The only tool we know is clipfinder and that isn't supposed for large archives.

Thanks for your answers

You could start with a simple database by using something like FileMaker Pro.

file maker

file maker

Thank you for your answer!
I read that a data field of file maker can be up to 2 GB and one FileMaker data can be up to 8 TB. So this is not really enough for video archiving.
Or is this guess wrong?

FileMaker Pro is just a database for metadata--you don't store your r3ds in/with it. It's an improvement on using a spreadsheet as your database (which could be sufficient for some). 8TB of data in Filemaker would be massive. We archive to LTO4 and use software (Prestor) to help manage that in conjunction with Final Cut Server, but there are complexities. There are no doubt many ways of managing r3ds, but I'm not aware of a particularly standout or "most used" option. Others here should be able to give more helpful advice! Best of luck with it.

PS RedUser has a real name policy, thanks.
