  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Anyone got any suggestions on how i can grade my footage to look like the RAW image you see while shooting?

desaturate, lower contrast

tried that but it's not close to what i see in RAW mode in camera.

Yean,

Extremely silly suggestion but here goes: you can try to get some of the footage back onto your SSD, plug it into your camera, bring the camera to Iceberg and playback the footage on SSD on their monitor, switch to "raw view" and say to colorist, "Make it look like that". :P hehe...

ISO: 320
Gamma: RG2 I guess (never use it. Used to be RedGamma)
WB: 5600
Tint: 0

Maybe sat down to 0,8 (just A/B with the tap from the cam and the grading suite...

1: Record in RAW
2: Don't do any coloring
3:export

The "RAW" setting in camera is not a metadatasetting which is saved with the file...

So this doesn't work.

"RAW"view, is also nothing like the RAW signal...

Precisely, Gunleik. Just felt that the RAW look suits the film i'm doing quite well.

Thanks for the suggestion Derrick. I did think about that. But i'm not coloring at Iceberg.

Anyone else?

Are you finishing in HD? If so - you can just play the footage in camera wile monitoring RAW and record the uncompressed SDI signal on a 10-bit capture card...
This also eliminates the need for a RED ROCKET.... ;o)

You could go in redcine X

preferences

General

show advanced cocontrols

you now have more options in your color space and gamma space selector including camera rgb

But I think it isn't Camera RGB anymore, even though that was the original RAW look.

We cannot have an unmatrixedc image anymore, not even in "RAW" mode...

in resolve... if you select red default ...i felt i am seeing what i saw in cameras raw mode..i guess

Isn't RAW, what the sensor "sees" before the debayering? ( chessboard pattern? )

Redcolor - Redlogfilm or any of the gammas, is just the result of the debayering, ( correct me if I'am wrong )

Actually, you can simulate that easily, even if it wasn't shot on Red, like below..

Of course, that doesn't make it necessarily, a Raw file!..
