so far i can't, i have brightness all the way down, I look at the histogram and i know the image is underexposed, but my touch shows maybe not perfect, but OK exposed picture

This is a great question and is something I've dealt with with other cameras/platforms. I'd love to hear the opinions of users with more experience than me but my own feeling now is that the ultimate guide to my exposure, the backstop, if you will, is the histogram and other diagnostic tools. I wish that my monitors were absolutely "accurate" in exposure and color but I don't know that I'll have that in my price-range. I own the TV Logic 5.6, Redtouch 5, DP4 EVF. I'd love to hear from the experts.

Are there any options for calibrating the 5" touch monitor other than just brightness?

Paramon - are you monitoring RAW or LOOK? Please check the manual for how to switch between these two and how to modify the LOOK for monitoring. You can even save up LOOK in REDCINE-X PRO and load it onto the camera...
Also - with RAW you can never get WYSIWYG as What You See is ALWAYS an interpretation of the RAW data - even when you monitor RAW. Trust the histogram for exposure - or use a lightmeter...

hey Peter, thanks for the link to help, that's very helpfull, because without this help i would be just helpless :)
OK, so you're saying from now on I need to judge exposure by histogram only, and my touch is just for framing, focusing and menu controls, and there is no way to, at lease to the certain point, "fix" the picture?
I know, i never shoot without histogram and zebra, but it just hard for me to see that overexposed looking picture on the monitor, i don't have that mental confirmation, "yeah, now it looks good" ,
and monitoring RAW looks even worse :)

No Paramon, please don't misunderstand. Sure - use the histogram as the key tool when judging exposure. But You can use the LOOK settings to emulate what you want to see in the monitor. I was not trying to be a smartass when I linked the user manual. Since the manual does not come in the box - you will be surprised how many people have not downloaded it and study in detail...

Also today RED will release the new color science - which is suppose to (amongst other things) improve the monitoring path in the camera...

Ultimately I am able to see in my TOUCH LCD the scene with correct representation - whether it be RAW or LOOK. If your monitor shows excessive over-exposure regardless of your settings - I would file a support ticket with bomb squad.
But before you do - I suggest you do this:

- set some scene - even at your house
- capture quick clip (even one sec) and keep the camera and scene as is
- open the clip in REDCINE-X PRO
- adjust the image to your liking
- export the look for Epic/Scarlet
- load the look onto the REDMAG
- load the look into the camera
- make sure you are monitoring the look and not RAW
- compare to what you see in REDCINE-X PRO with your monitor
- try to adjust the monitor's brightness

If after all this you are still experiencing major differences between the TOUCH LCD and the REDCINE-X PRO - contact the bomb squad...
