Hey All,

I recently started my production company and I'm having a hard time getting a start. I just moved to Houston from New York, which plays a part in my inability, but I wanted to ask for those who aren't in a major market? I primarily worked in short film and broadcast as a producer, but I need help starting something in an off market and I'm looking to start a dialogue for anyone else in my situation.

At the very least join media job sites like StaffmeUp and Mandy.
The quality of gigs vary but you can definitely find serious pro work there.
I have used it over the years to land one off gigs and recurring ones that turned into clients.
More jobs you list in your profile and reels you show the better your chances. One thing I like about those sites is actual humans
evaluate the applicants and not AI scans of resumes.

I suppose Glassdoor and Indeed can work but they do funnel
applications into the Employers system which is usually AI based.

Networking is still the best. Find any and every industry event
and tell people how you can help them and keep telling them.
Might take time for things to marinate but things happen when you keep at it. Consider it a law of the universe.
