Hi,

I want to buy a Asus PA279Q or PA249Q as second monitor to a macbook pro retina 15" 2014, does the mac output 10bit video out from HDMI or thunderbolt to display port adapter?

Thanks

Support for 10bit+ out of the GTX750M in the Macbook Pro isn't very good at the hardware level and it's non-existent at the software level. You'll have to get a USB3 or TB I/O solution from AJA or BMD to properly monitor, especially at 10bit+. Which solution to pick will depend on which abilities you want, such as 4K, and which software you will be using it with. Personally I really like the AJA io4K. However it does not work with Resolve, which requires BlackMagic hardware... The BlackMagic Intensity Pro connects to Thunderbolt had gives 1080p HD in 10/12bit over HDMI plus it has breakout cables for other options. It can be had here in the USA for about $250 street price. Not sure for EU...

It's available in Europe for 140€ excl vat for the PCI version, 190 for the external box. I bought mine, at visual impact Paris.
But stocks are quickly going down as it's eol (for the PCI)

The ultra studio mini seems a better solutions think. Just use the hdmi out.

BTW the Intensity series is probably their biggest selling product by numbers especially the PCI-E card. If its going EOL then there likely means an updated version on the horizon:) Hint Hint.

Thank you all...

I'm also considering the LG 34UM95 (http://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-34UM95-P-ultrawide-monitor) its a ultrawide 21:9 monitor.

It also receives 10 bit but over displayport only, I don´t know if blackmagic diversity extreme cam handle this or if they have another solution (I use resolve)...

Is it possible to use hdmi in in diversity extreme and sent to lg monitor through TB to displayport on LG monitor? will this be a good solution?

Best regards

There is the HDlink Displayport if you have a Blackmagic SDI device to chain it to. However the 21:9 aspect may change things. That is still something not officially supported by many drivers.

I would suggest not to use the Hdlink display port, as the display port itself dosent work....
The only Way i Could make it work,is via dvi-d... It's a shame, bmd said it was bad câbles, but i had bought 5 différent manufacturer, same always.
