Hi All,

Really DUMB newbie question. I've got my brand spanking new Scarlet, and the tactical top plate. I also have a RED bolt set.

How to I mount the top plate to the camera? To me it looks like I should probably undo the four little "star shaped" bolts, remove the grey slotted vent cover at the rear top of the camera. Then the tactical top plate looks like it should lie flat against the camera and get fastened in place. But there's nothing in the RED bolt set which fits those bolts, so I wondered if I was doing something wrong.

Questions:

1) Is this the right way to do it, and
2) What is the spec of the "star shaped" bolts, and where do I buy the appropriate spanner? (In the UK, ideally!)

Any help appreciated!

Cheers, Hywel Phillips

its torx nr 4 and torx nr 10 for the back focus. (as far as i remember)

buy a whole set from amazon. they are damn cheap, buy even two for 10 dollars

Also, remember that a Torx is just several flat head screw slots jammed together. You can unscrew a star head with the appropriate flat head driver... I've got a nice four head Husky flat/phillips head in the "eyeglass and camera bits" size range and the smallest of those heads did the trick. The wooden camera top plate requires that you remove the vent cover as well, and then you use two larger bolts at the very front of the camera, and two on either side.

Also be aware, the last word we heard from Jarred was that using aluminum bolts would void your warranty. Are these aluminum? :-(

You need to remove the cooling "grill" on the top of the camera. I believe that's 4 screws. The screws/bolts to attach the DSMC Tactical Top Plate are already installed in the plate itself... set it on the camera and carefully fasten it down.

The problem with the DC lemo connector is that there is not much room down there to use the Lemo connector properly so you can find yourself tugging at it without properly engaging it. Had exactly the same issue.

Yep, it is that easy. You just remove the grill and install the top plate.

All the wrenches came with my Epic for most things.

Hi All,

Thanks for the help! Appropriate set of Torx on order :)

That'll make the next shoot a lot easier- V-mount instead of AC adaptor should make tracking shots a bit less of a headache!:shocked:

Cheers, Hywel.

What is the status on the aluminum bolts. Any usage of them voids warranty ?
