How to control the Epic camera on/off at a height of 80ft????

Hi

this is Karthik Palani, an assistant cinematographer from India... Recently we did a test and a couple of commercial in red epic, now we are planning to shoot a feature film, i wanted to know when the camera is on cranes like strada or akelela, hw we will control the camera on/off, because with the red mote we can control approx 50 feet... what about height more than that say about 80ft or above...

Hi Karthik: We routinely turn our Epics on and off remotely with a solenoid actuator that we have developed. We can help you out in the short term if you wish. This system is a wired system so you would have to be happy with an extra wire going to the camera at this point. The system can also initiate record stop and start or you might want to consider the Sync Bob Plus module on the webstore at spacecam.com We are preparing to announce several very interesting accessories that will address your problem and many more.

Hi Karthnik. I have a wireless record start/stop system that I am looking to sell for around $200 which has a range in excess of 100'. Also looking at integrating this into a breakout box that will have HD-SDI, Genlock and Sync. This will probably cost somewhere in the region of $350. Housing will be either aluminum or PVC, depending on demand and costs.

It is ironic that the camera can control over 100 functions remotely, but can't be powered on...
