Newbie here. I've been playing with our company's new Red camera over the past two weeks and noticed that the sun registers as a purple circle in camera and on playback. I was trying to shoot a timelapse sunset, is there any way around this occurrence?

The only thing I can think of involves motion tracking the purple circle in post and rendering out the color... thoughts? Thanks in advance!

This is the way the mysterium sensor works. You have two choices, thie first you have mentioned the other is to re-shoot at a lower exposure. You can try to lower your exposre in Red Alert/Redcine this sometimes works but depends on how bad the blowout is.

The sun becomes purple when you are way overexposed - so the data is long lost, if you want to overexpose the sun - you need to repair it in post.

I shoot a lot of concerts, and on some rare occasions I get the same in the spotlights (if they are really really bright), it´s normally fairly easy to fix in post, but of course the best is to expose to avoid it to begin with.
