  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

How RED saved my Life, My personal thank you in response to Jims last post.

Years ago when I first started reading here in REDUSER, I started reading topics from this one user named Joseph Hutson.
I finally got to meet him at NAB 2011 and wished I started that young (well there was no RED then).
I think everyone knows his story.
Read up on him Jesse and see how determined he was to get in this business.
Here is one topic that caught my eye.
Learned a lot from this one.
He seems to be doing just fine.
Jesse if your ever up in Mid-Western Canada, you borrow my Scarlet anytime.

It's REDone 318 that also changed my life allot. Thanks to that camera I'm having a great life doing what I love. RED is magic, go doubt. I have the camera on my desk to remind me every day.

Tell you what...


I am to make a trip to Wellington NZ for years now, and kept postponing it, and for sure I was going to also visit close by areas...

When I do make it, sometime this year or next, I will make a point to stop by you, and spend a couple of days shooting something cool together on our Famous Red Epic-M Serial #000008 AKA M8.


This special camera made us the second in the world to take delivery of a Red Epic camera, and it holds history since the birth of EPIC, has traveled the world, and I will with great pleasure make you part of it's incredible history, and more likely you'll shoot together with me with it with a DRAGON sensor... ;)

To Ketch Rossi .... why only 2 days ? please donate a week to make Jesse a man.
I know what you can do for a day, if it is a week I think you will change Jesse's life forever(and I know how busy person you are Ketch).
By the way Red already started, so Reuser will steps in small or big as each of us can.
Let's get together and make a different for Jesse !

I have a couple things as ready as I can at the moment!

And as for the two days with ketch that's more than enough! It means the world for anything, Plus, depending on timing I might not be able to spend too much time from home.

And thank you for your kind words :) I don't like sympathy or taking anything from people It makes me really uncomfortable but I thank everyone who has offered help :)

I think your sentiment is very admirable but I dont believe Red saved you life. I think you have saved your life by showing up and looking for ways to survive some serious adversity. Keep reaching out and opportunity will come and keep following your dreams.

Thank you, I know what you mean and I agree, but I credit red with a big deal of it.

I am based in Sydney and soon to be receiving an Epic Dragon, I would be more than happy to lend it out to you when it's not being used on jobs and bring you on a couple of shoots. I admire your strength in sticking to a goal despite all these terrible circumstances, keep it up! (Will also be more than happy to put some cash through kickstarter or whichever crowd funding site for you)

Thats really nice man, thank you so much, Im putting some work into a couple shorts, one of which I had this really cool slow mo shot idea for, so the epic dragon would be awesome for even just that shot :) thank you :)
 
Again, I want to say thank you to everyone who is supporting me, It means the world that there are such amazing people out there!
I totally didn't expect anything like this!

Aslo again, If there is anyone who can show this to Jim, Jarred or anyone at red to show Jim, it would be great.

And a quick question, Alot of you have said a Kickstarter could work, Which I still dont believe.
But if I was to, how should I go about it?
Id have no idea where to start? Obviously I couldnt afford even a scarlet, Maybe renting or something, or a blackmagic?
Would people really pay for a short film?
What rewards would I offer?
How long would it have to be?
How do I make it look like I can do It with only passion and words? haha

OR should I just do some kind of "Fund me" thing, where people just pitch a bit of money in here and there to go towards making a bunch of shorts? (I have 3-4 10 ish min shorts planed)

You all are obviously the pro's and all people I look up to, so your input, good or bad, is something I could never buy or go to school for, and I cant thank you enough :)

I would if I could, but the 2 Days mentioned, are because of what I know I can give, if more is possible, the better, but my Stop at Jesse's will be as part of an unprecedented event in both Photography and Cinematography world, as I am prepping a "100" shoots in "100" different places around the world, to start short after we get M8 to Dragon upgrade, while also I have to bring to life my first Short and Feature Film in LA with possible shots in Italy.


So not counting what is going on with my new Cine Gear division of TOLiCORP™ it leaves simply no play time... But I will be sure to schedule those "2" days with Jesse... ;)

Sounds awesome man, there heaps of cool places around, from the beautiful Sydney cbd to the beaches and even the rain forest! :)

Just happened to see your post. Didn't/don't have much time to be on the forum, but I wanted to let you know I read every word. And that I can really sympathize with your struggle. I was in the same place at the end of Jim's message, and I let him know it, too.

Let me just say this...dreams do come true. And Jim and his passions have made it possible for a lot of other dreams to manifest -- INCLUDING MY OWN. If there is anything I can do to help, please PM me and we can continue speaking. Hope all is well.
