  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

How often do you rely on lens Image Stabilization (IS)?

The title pretty much sums up my curiosity (cine style glass aside) - how often do you use lenses with some type of image stabilization?

for me, any other camera then a canon body its always acted strange. so with my old 5d with a 24-70mm running around handheld for docs i loved it. i never used it on my 70-200mm, it's really for stills, when you try to come to a stop on a pan or tilt it looks like it soft bounces to a stop. it's weird.
but this is all my experience and opinion.

Considering a fair amount of my jobs are at the race track and I utilize the 70-200 as well as the 200-400, I get a fair bit of use out of the IS on those lenses. Actually quite a bit on the 100mm Macro as well. I certainly know situations where it has helped me immensely on all 3 due to hand held operation or high winds.
