I wanted to know if the resolution difference between primes and zooms is big with RED lenses. So, if I were to use a 17-50mm lens and a 300mm one for a feature, would there be a distracting visible difference between the shots (just strictly talking resolution, not FoV, perspective etc.)?

there is much more to the lenses than resolution (you probably mean resolution limit at some small MTF, like 5 or 10%): distortions, aberrations, colour shifts, glare, astigmatism, flare, etc...

the questions you need to answer first are: what part of the frame, at which focal length and at what aperture as the answer will depend on those parameters.

But the perceived sharpness of the image is really mostly dependent on the contrast at moderate detail level, say 20-40 lp/mm.

Are your paying viewers going to be pixel peepers standing inches from a 90 foot screen with magnifying glasses? I'm willing to bet most couldn't tell cell phone footage intercut with 5K - lenses be damned.

I would think RPZ and RPPs match well. Is your final output going 1080p theater/DVD/BLUERAY or 4k projection?

I wouldn't worry about 1080p. Maybe someone that shoots and has matched both up in a project can chime in here. Maybe they'll even have a link to share?

The only people who might notice or even care what lenses or even the camera used to shoot a feature are camera forum geeks. Your normal viewing audience watches a feature to be entertained. You should have no issues using those lenses, but might I suggest shooting a little chart at the head of each lens change to make color matching a little easier in post.

All the Best!

Thanks all for your input. I appreciate it.

Thanks Dave for your tip, that certainly will help!
