I guess that a starting kit with a fixed Scarlet including a RED Gunner complete rig + 1 SSD/SSD module/RED station will cost me at least 13 000 $ (mic gun, portable, local HDD, tripod & new laptop not included). You always spend 60 % of your money in accessories.

If all goes to plan I'll be going in halves with my uncle for a Scarlet Fixed.

I've been going to school and doing small video jobs to mainly gain experience but also to get some cash.

I've got $3K put away so far with another $1K check coming soon so hopefully our projected $8k budget will get us a Scarlet Fixed, Redmote and/or Side handle, and Red bomb or 5" Monitor and SSD module and an maybe 2 SSD's.

That's the plan anyway but we'll see.

I have the cash already assuming they stick (more or less) to the $6K number. A bit more for extra SDD cards and Batteries and a few accessories on my wish list.
My main price point question is between the fixed and cinema as I have many Nikon lenses and could see going cinematic to have that extra width of lens options.

Plowing thru the various Videos from NAB with Ted (Somebody give this man a mighty big glass of beer, when the NAB is over ... he double-deserves it) i thought i heard him say, that there will be only the fixed scarlet. All the Plans of exchangable lenses went over to the EPIC Series. So no need to guess. We all buy a Fixed Scarlet for around 6K ;-)

There's NO official announcement telling that Scarlet Cinema is cancelled.

Probably enough for the fixed, plus a few accessories. Providing it ships by the end of summer, which is my blind guess. I've been as critical of Red's hype as anyone, but seeing more than a few working versions of Scarlet tells me this camera is now real, of very high quality, and tangibly close.

Hoping to pick up some more serious work with this, and escape from TV...
