Hi Guys,
So I bought a Red One Mx camera and am just waiting on delivery (where I will shoot loads of tests over the christmas period). In the last two weeks I have been doing my research on the camera and just wanted to know if any of what I list below is correct or not.
1. The best ISO to shoot at is 800? I have seen arguments that it is good to shoot at ISO 800, expose to the right and then develop the footage at 320?
2. 800 is the best ISO to shoot for Int and Ext?
3. When using ND filters make sure to have ND/IR filters or hot mirror on front of the ND filter?
4. This is something I am not sure of but think I read it somewhere, Is shooting at Daylight balance always better for image quality? Then if I want it tungsten do that in RED Cine in the first light pass? I don't think this is true but just want to make sure?
5. REDCODE 36 seems the most popular setting to shoot at?
6. A good workflow is doing a first light in RED cine, then editing the Raw files natively in Premiere pro then grading (in whatever software you grade in) then export the film through AE?
7. I'm not sure on this one, is it better to shoot 4.5K and open in a 4.5k preset and then export at 1080p (if delivering on Dvd), this basically squashes the image to fit does it? or is their another way?
Is their any other important information I need to know? I'm really sorry if this is wrong its just stuff I have seen wrote on other threads and wanted to confirm if I'm understanding it properly. I know I'm not a professional DOP but I aspire to hopefully be one so I want to make sure I know the camera as best as possible (even before I receive it).
Thanks to anyone who responds in advance, appreciate it.
James
