1. how many grams before need lens support with Canon mounts?

2. Does this vary with AL or TI mounts?

Thanks!

In Phils "Skully" thread he just said that he thinks you might be ok with anything up to the canon 2.8 300mm IS, but after that is pushing it. It was a pretty informal comment, but I just read it, so I thought I would share. This is the Canon AL mount.

Please read his thread for confirmation on all that.

Also factor in expected torque - if you're mounting to a vehicle it's gonna be different than a one of shot from a tripod. Good general rule is that if the manufacturer made a support for it it's worth using.

AL or Ti probably not the biggest deal, the lens side of the mount is far weaker than the camera side in this case.
