Hello there,

I am rather excited about buying an EPIC-X camera soon.

So............How long will an EPIC-X SENSOR LAST?
Or... How long will an EPIC-X body last?

Or for that matter, how long do camera sensors last in general?

Will my Canon 5D MarkII have a inoperative sensor in 10 years etc.?

I had a Canon 10D sensor last about 9 years, then the hot pixels became infuriatingly prolific. The newer sensors might last longer. One thing is for sure, don't leave digital cameras inside hot cars on sunny days, the heat is really hard on them.

that is kind of a nebulous question. depends on so many variables. My 5D MKII sensor turned to crap in a year and half and is actually at Canon right now being replaced for $1300

One thing is for sure, don't leave digital cameras inside hot cars on sunny days, the heat is really hard on them.

Old rule of thumb - Never leave a camera or film (media, nowadays) any place that is too hot for a candy bar.

With the technical developments going as they are - or even possibly accelerating - all a 2011 camera will be good
for in 2021 is a paperweight.

A Red One might be a good doorstopper, the Epic is unfortunately (or rather fortunately) a little too small and lightweight for that....

True, but no true, as in, the Epic is so high-end that it is all anyone needs to make movies.......for the next say 50 years.

Film cameras are still good even if they are old.....in terms of story telling classic cinema.
