Is there such a thing as a LEMO coupler so I could connect my 10 ft charger cable to the cradle's battery cable, or maybe the battery plate cable?

Thanks!

Jim

Thanks Slinnn,

Belt clip is a much better solution, though a bit pricey.

Anyone know about a LEMO connector to couple my charger cable with the cradle?

Cheers,

Jim

if you find one, please post the info. there are rumors of there being one. or you could have a cable custom made..

Jim/maxwax, I've had the same wondering and will be looking into the coupler as well.

In addition to LEMO, we have, in the past, used UDO connectors some of which are designed to mate with LEMO.

http://www.odu-usa.com/mini_snap/mini_snap.php

ODU-USA offers MINI-SNAP connectors capable of mating with LEMO* and Fischer Connectors**.

I'll try to give them a call in the morning.

Someone called me today about just such an extension cable. I had thought there was one on the Red.com site, but I told him our Service Dept. could make one.

Hey David, that sounds promising! Please keep us informed.

If there is a cable involved, it can be like 6" as we all have 10ft cables with the charger. I actually have 3 and that's enough!

Hi Mitch,

Can your service department make a simple 6" female-female LEMO to couple the cradle with the charger cable, or are you talking about a full length extension?

Be great to have a very short (or even no) cable to keep the kit smaller.

Any info/pricing would be fantastic!

Thanks,

Jim

We can make just about any cable given the connectors and the proper pinouts. Send me a PM with your email info and we'll go from there.

I've been doing this since day one. Only slight annoyance is that the camera thinks it is running on mains power so you get no battery status feedback.

Simple lemo male to female gender changer does the job.

Hey Geoff. Thanks for that. Not having any luck with the part number. Is that off the LEMO website? Where did you get yours?

Not having the battery indicator wouldn't be a big problem. This is really just to use for jib shots.

Cheers,

Jim

Geoff, the gender changer sounds perfect.

I also, however, tried the number on the Lemo web site which returns a part-number error in response.

I got mine direct from Lemo UK. (see below) I suggest you give them a call, describe what the part does and quote the part number I quoted earlier.

I just spoke to Len and he said they should be able to send it no problem - it's not very expensive.

Please give me some feedback if this works for you or not. This is the second time I've given out this information and I would like to be sure that people are actually getting the part okay.

Thanks and good luck

Geoff

Hi Geoff,

Thanks for the follow up. I'll definitely get onto this and let you know how I go.

Cheers,

Jim

geoff,

Many thanks. I've been in contact with 4 or 5 LEMO distributors here in the US and none have been able to find the part as of yet. They all have trouble with the RGG.2B306CLM part number.

Some have asked if that could possibly be FGG.2B306CLM with an F instead of a R at the head of the number in that the FGG appears more like a LEMO part number to them.

Do you have the full LEMO number for the FGG.2B cable cable ends on the 10 ft charger cable? That might help these suppliers with their search.

I expect I will get some calls back tomorrow (late in the day here) and I'll post whatever information I receive.

Thanks again,
David

Geoff and all,

I was able to talk with a very helpful Stephen Lassen at LEMO USA today.

Stephen suggested that the RGG.2B 306CLM gender changer is wired straight so that the pinouts would be reversed on the far side of the gender changer.

He instead recommended buying two LEMO PHG.2B.306.CLLD82 and making up a cross wired short length of cable using up to 20g wire.

The LEMO search page is at: http://www.lemo.com/search/partnum_search.jsp

I'll probably go this route but it is interesting to consider that Geoff is using the straight wired connector/gender changer successfully. I'm just a bit confused by that but that's OK, I'm confused by one thing or another most of the time anyway.

It would also be possible to make a small box with panel mount receptacles rather than the short cable. ODU also carries LEMO mating parts.

Hi David,

Good job following up on this.

But if it's wired straight, wouldn't the pins still line up correctly? It's not like it's a mirror image or something, it's just extending what's already there, left to left etc?

Or am I missing something?

Cheers,

Jim

All I can say is that the one I have works just fine.

Cheers
