Hi,
Just for my curiosity. My R1 have been going through allot, and have some scars to prove it, but I'm sure there are a lot more used and worn R1 out there :) It would be fun to see.

I start out with a post of my R1, here with a anamorphic lomo.

My camera only has a couple tiny marks on it, otherwise it looks new. And those small marks are from rental customers. I'm totally obsessive when it comes to keeping my gear in clean, working order. I do have one little blemish on my 5.6" LCD though. That one was my fault. D'oh!

Serial #1 is still new in the box from Day One. Never touched.

Serial #2-5 have light signs of use... but look pretty darn good.

I'm the same way with my RED and it has bullets, explosions and rocks flying at it half the time. But despite all that action my RED is in very good condition.

I'm surprised Jim that you don't have RED #1 bronzed or gold plated sitting on your desk.

Still in the box? Thats a fine collectors piece...Yeah I have been beating the shit out of 1781 since day 1 and it looks grand. My 5.6 on the other hand is beaten to hell with plenty of bruises to show for it.

Yes, my LCD took a beating also. After this, I put protective plexi on the display :)

No in between choice?

Mine's looking just fine except for a spot on the rear lcd. Year anniversary next month and no dings. That's a record for me.

Mine hasn't got much use so it's still like new apart from one of the screws being stripped...kind of sketchy about taking it around London on my own...

I bruised my 5.6 screen several times, then my buddy cracked it. $1,150 for repair - ouch! Putting a nice clear shield over it now. Got some loose Lemo female connectors, one inside the LCD and one in the Origo - tightened them and used a drop of blue Loctite. Also lost the back caps on those right angle Lemo LCD cables, put one back with blue Loctite also. Cam body looks great - that powder coat is tough as nails.

Mine has a few scratches on it but otherwise it's like new. I haven't seen the RED logo on the operator side of my camera since day 1 though. I put a large piece of Velcro over it for lockit box placement. I often look at that and am tempted to remove it but now it feels like part of the camera. Maybe when they stamp the new Mysterium-X logo on it I'll finally remove the Velcro.

1976 has been shaken up a lot at work, but the worst that has happened is the Red logo button on the front fell off and it was kindly replaced by Red. Other than that, just the inevitable scratches to the base of the camera, but even those are not bad. The camera definitely has a tough finish.

My front logo fell off long ago. My LCD is bruised. The body finish is tough as nails though so it looks great. Whatever that stuff is bring it along to EPIC.

All done by customers: RED LCD 5.6 inch scratched, RED Menu knob damaged

but later was repaired at RED-Pinewood service in UK.

After that no more rentals to the "bad" customers.

My first Red 708 having done in excess of 350 shoot days has paid for itself and an Epic and much more besides. Aged but still working.

Only damages:
Fatigue
Dull lifeless eyes
Missing social life
Relationships showing signs of stress and fracture

I wish I was as resiliant as the bloody camera.
