  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

How hard would it be to get a red epic dragon in Tanzania?

Hey all,

I am going on a small work trip for a non profit to do some shooting in Tanzania. I was going to bring my rigged out a7rii with shogun flame but then got to thinking about maybe bringing my red epic dragon. Does anyone know if it would be difficult to get that in the country? I have been to other countries in Africa like Ethiopia and its nearly impossible to even get a still camera in. I just don't want to run into trouble. If I even sense that I could run into trouble I am just going to bring the Sony.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Jonathan

I'd say the biggest thing is to get a work visa. I shot there with a carbon dragon a couple of years ago, and didn't have any issues getting in, but I had a work visa. I think it cost me $100 if I remember correctly.

I have taken my Dragon to TZ as hand-luggage a couple of times. No issues. Just had to pull it up and explain the cam the second time. No problems at all.

If I remember correctly, I got the visa upon arrival, because I was a late-minute addition to the crew (only a week notice or so), however I think the rest of the crew had done them in advance. TZ is the sort of country where you just need to be prepared to pay the officials "tea money" if they determine that you should.

It's a risk, but now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever traveled to another country for work, without really knowing for sure that they were going to let me in (even when we done our due diligence).
