  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

How do you shoot at 6FPS and "transfer" at 6FPS on red1?

I understand that the project frame rate is higher than these. But what if you wanted to shoot at lower speeds and play them at the speed that they were shot?? Any ideas??
Thanks!!

You could step print the 6fps footage up to 24fps in AE or something similar.

Or, just thinking off the top of my head, you could try shooting in timelapse mode at 6fps with the step print set to 4 in a 24fps timebase - that should work, I would think...

Of course, in both of those situations you're actually displaying in 24fps, but with only 6 different images per second. If you wanted to truly display at 6fps then you would need some kind of custom display device.

What's it for?!

Cheers,
Dom.

estebanred, we've been shooting a slow frame rates 6 fps, 2 fps etc. with great success.

We slow the shot in post to achieve real time. For example, with a 24fps project a shot at 6fps would be slowed to 25%. We have gone so far as shooting double system sound at slow frame rates and achieved perfect sync.

We use Cineform/Premiere but I'm sure there is a similar path with FCP.

Hope this helps,
David

Thanks guys, seems like a good idea. I just wondered if there was another way to do it, and if not maybe it could be a big improvement on a future build dont you think?

Dominic, the shot is for a spot in which I need a person to stand still and the people around them to be blurry. 1fps which is what time lapse gives is too slow, I thought 4 or 6 or even 8 fps would be a nice speed plus multiples of 24 :P

David, I will try what you suggest and let you know.

Thanks for the FAST responses!!!
You guys rock!
