How do you set the FN function button? The manual doesn't say how

I want to set my FN button to magnify the image so I can do it on the fly without digging through the menus. but I cannot find anywhere in the manual or any tutorial online that shows how to do this.

Hey Kenny,

Unlike Komodo X or Raptor (X) I don't think that can be set on Komodo OG.
If someone knows otherwise I would like to hear.

Some user customizations like user assignable FN buttons and User pages have never been bought
over to Komodo OG and not sure what RED's intentions are as they have not updated Komodo's firmware in
over a year.
There are supposed to be new firmware updates released "soon" but the chatter seems to imply that Komodo OG will not be receiving further updates.

If you want these features consider emailing RED that you want them in Komodo.

But I find that very strange, because the button has the "FN" label, implying that it can be used this way. Why is the button even labeled "FN" then?

Can it be used for anything else?

I did go through the menus on both Komodo OG & Komodo X.

Komodo X has a "User Settings" page in the menu that allows setting "Presets" (saved camera settings) and
"User Buttons" ( which allow setting functions to the front and side record buttons).

I don't see on Komodo X where you can assign functions to the top LCD buttons including the FN button.

Komodo OG only has a "Presets" menu item and not "User Buttons" or any other way I can see for customizing settings for the record button or the top LCD buttons.

Having said all of that, it would be a great feature to have on Komodo OG as well as the "User Pages" option in Komodo X which allows quick access to 3 different pages of settings using the top LCD.

While I hear that Komodo's firmware is quite full I have a feeling these are functions that can be added if there is enough demand.

If anyone wants these settings among others (gyro horizon line?) please contact RED directly as it's questionable how much they monitor REDuser.

Hi Kenny

My guess is that the button got labeled before RED exactly knew what features/functions they want to add.
The fact that the description of the SEL button has changed from Operation Guide V1.6 to 1.7
tells me that RED most likely dropped the idea of user assignable buttons for OG KOMODO.

However, if you wish a quicker access to the monitoring tools (including magnify),
this can be done by tapping the exposure tools (the RGB bars on the left side of the top screen).
Then you have access to the monitoring tools and can directly tap the LCD button
of the magnify section on the left to toggle this function on and off.
As far as I know, it's the only option for the top screen.

Of course I would prefer a physical user assignable button, too, but it's better than digging through
the menus.

After a little research, I found out that the FN label on KOMODO-X actually refers to the top button function mode,
which allows you to adjust/control the top values of your monitor/EVF's SDI overlay.
