How do we achieve this ASPECT RATIO with red 4k video

Is there any such thing as Aspect ratio 8:3?
How do we achieve 2680x1080, aspect ration 8:3 from a red r3d 4k video in FCPX?

2.66 : 1 is more or less the same aspect ratio of 3-panel Cinerama.

So if we shoot 4k hd will we be able to achieve the required aspect ratio in the post with FCPX? Is it just the matter of custom export settings :-(

4K HD is 1.78:1. You need to find something close to 2.66:1 from the list.

Shoot the biggest frame that you can and crop in post. Set guidelines on the camera screen for the closest you can get.

You can make custom compound clip dimensions. Just set it to those and set the video to "Fill" under spatial conform in the inspector. It works great.
