  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

How do I get 2.5:1 on my epic?

Was wondering how to get 2.5:1 compression on my epic? Maybe this is a special option I may have to get from red?

That may be the case for most shots, but there are many scenarios that are very challenging for the red and the image is significantly better with less compression. Fine detail like thin stripes and oak tree branches put a lot of stress on Red's compression.

I wan't say 7:1, but 5:1 all day long... ;)

BTW, that test is not calculable in reality of technical tests, amongst other things, He also used a Zoom lens in one camera and a Prime in the other, when doing such test all parts must be equal with only applicable difference been the Camera... ;)

I think the only true way of doing a comparison test would be to use a 3D mirror rig and set different REDCODE compression ratios on each until you couldn't observe a difference between the control and variable.

the beam splitter is a lossy optical reality of 3d shooting... Which would be your control? (through or over/under... They both look different)...Better to have a controlled repetable scene and do 2 passes.
