I had a famous actress shouting at me to turn off that nerving noise between takes. She couldn't hear herself thinking. I definitly see the noise as a problem. I hope that the power-management update comes soon. In some points RED still has a long way to go before they reach this state of "just right". But i can't blame them, since i bought into the program.
Actually, I hope they take their time turning on the power management. A CMOS chip can get power thru any of it's inputs if there's no power going into the main power. The trouble is, the power then goes in thru these tiny ESD diodes, meant to protect the chip, but not really meant to deal with that power all the time. RED really needs to be sure everything is in order first, which I'm sure they are doing. That's one complex set of circuit boards if you've looked at the FCC breakdown.
But, back on the fan topic.
At 8 or 10 feet from the Scarlet/Epic, is a fan at 40-45% audible (as in will it be picked up by a boom mike located next to the talent)?
