Hello All,

I am trying to get a grip on how to navigate and use Reduser ...
I've posted a Scarlet camera kit for sale ; but now I'm curious...

If someone does become interested in buying something I've posted; or if I am interested in purchasing,
What is the "Process" of completing the transaction ??
Once someone says "I wanna buy..." Is payment and shipping all separate from RedUser at that point and just built off of trust ?

I appreciate Any direction / suggestions on how i can approach this in a better way.

Thanks

Hi Joe,

Good questions! As someone who's sold and purchased on Reduser, I've had both very good and very bad experiences. Most everyone here is honest and good to deal with, but I've been scammed as well. The purchase is separate from Reduser, just be sure to report any items as "SOLD" by editing your post and thread title. I've found there are really two ways to complete the transaction:

1) Meet in person and deal in cash. This gives the buyer a chance to examine the equipment and the seller gets cash on the spot. But if you live in a smaller market, like myself, where there aren't as many used deals going on, then you're left with option 2.

2) Use a 3rd party to mediate the sale and ship the item. Most here use paypal for payment from my experience. Paypal will typically charge you 3% but they protect you in case of fraud. I've had to use their buyer protection before and it only took a few days I think for paypal to get the money from the crook and put it back in my account. You can work out who pays those fees with your buyer. Just be honest and up front. Also, always use a tracked shipping method! Fedex is my preferred.

All in all, this forum is a great resource because of the people who make it that way. I prefer to buy here in most cases over buying new, not only because of the lower price, but people here understand our business. Retailers not so much... I've been in situations where I've been on set and a piece of equipment has been broken or lost and needed a replacement for the next shoot week, and the users here have saved the day.

Hope that helps!

Yes, this would be good info. to share.

I'm guessing people make use of services like escrow.com for expensive items.

Anyone have experience selling/shipping used gear across the Canada/U.S. border? This seems like it could be complicated.
