Just being curious. For those that have both the side handle and touch screen, what seems to be more preferred method of navigation? Or even the redmote. Thanks!

Side handle and touch are different it depends. A lot of people like the side handle because it speeds things up if you have large hands like me. But, the touch is pretty amazing as well, it's what do you need... Not what do you want.

The side handle is great for handholding the camera, or just transporting it as a minimized package. Also adds a plethora of function keys. Great for quick adjustments. The screen is better for more complex changes.

And the side handle will gain even more functionality once the stills mode is activated.

Bottom line, while either the screen and the side handle can do the other's job, it really is best to have both. Horses and courses and such.

The Side Handle is essential for me. The touch screen is great for tweaking all the settings, and monitoring (obviously). The side handle is great for quick navigation and mapping buttons with great shortcuts.

Using REDvolts is my primary function of the side handle. I have bricks but for lightweight stuff the side handle is a must. Having buttons is nice too.

I miss buttons...

AC'd for a year on Epic-Ms where we barely used the side handle, always touch screen for everything. Side handle was attached basically for camera decoration.

Shooting with the Scarlet for the last three weeks, haven't purchased a touch screen, the side handle absolutely completes the camera in lightweight configuration, everyone on set loves the DSMC concept & feel of it...

I'll buy a touch screen at some point. Maybe in a year when Red releases a higher res 7.0" (not 9") version...

I think the side handle is the best way to navigate quickly through camera settings and its great to be able to pull a shot or 2 off the Redvolt when needed.

Even without revolts I'd say the handle is essential. I'm not happy with the over all functionality of the touch screen. If you need focus assist, f-stop control and ISO quickly, it;s the only real option. I felt handicapped till I got my side handle. The buttons on the touch screen and SSD are difficult to get to if your doing any hand held work. Also if you plan to do some motion stills. it key to be able to move the camera around. 10+ for me.

I'm not liking, not having it! :P

I'm pretty certain I'll like the -2lb weight of not carrying a v- mount battery and I'm really looking forward to having some means of holding it. It's surprisingly ergonomic for an odd shaped box.
