  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

...for those of us who shoot wedding/event stuff and would like to use Scarlet.
Just the module, you supply the 3.5" drive....or even 2.5" drive. Whatever. If it has to run off of house power as opposed to a battery.

Just thinking out loud.

Here's hoping SSDs come down in price soon.

Be nice to just stick a 500GB SSD into a Scarlet module and "load up" on footage.

Until then there are the cheap, quality SATA drives that are just waiting for footage.

As long as they could handle RedCode.

For longer format work SSD and RED-DRIVE are the way to go.

Just using an off the shelf hard drive is not a practical solution for video recording

Thanks, Stuart!

I'm wondering how much footage the Red-Drive will hold from the 2/3" redcode.

Stuart,

Are there any talks of a storage enclosure module? More specifically, how about a module that takes any 2.5" drive (or better yet, two) and supplies power from the battery? Obviously the end user would have to know minimum write speeds for their SSD, but with solid state drives steadily coming down in price, it would be lovely to update our storage solutions as quickly as the market allows for it. SATA-III support would also be wonderful, but I'm not familiar with what licensing protocols would govern such an implementation.

Thanks,
Eric
