Just got my new EVF. Unpacking and mounting was done in a wink of an eye. And now I discover that I cannot see the menu, as shown in my LCD and what even is more important the waveform at the base just does not show. What do I do wrong?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Are you using your Bomb with a Red One camera? If so, try pressing both of the user buttons on the rear of the EVF at the same time and you should see the histogram and exposure info on the bottom of the screen (you will lose your camera info at the top of the screen when you do this, but you can press the buttons together again to toggle between the two)

Hi Joe,

thank you very much. That worked. I was under the impression that the EVF would be just smaller than the big one. Now it seems it does not show what the other did. Any idea if that is different on the Epic??

Best

Markus

Hi Markus, When the Bomb EVF is used with the Epic, there is no problem, all info is displayed without having to toggle. The Bomb can be used with the R1, but is really made for the Epic. The Bomb EVF has a native resolution of 720p and I believe the reason for the difference in display between the Red One and the Epic is because of the EVF display output from each camera: 1080 for R1 and 720 for Epic. The original Red 1 EVF has a native 1080p resolution.

Joe, thanks very much for the detailed information. I hopefully will get my Epic this year (Stage 3). It would have made not much sense to use a viewfinder that is larger than the camera I guess. Still I miss my old EVF somehow. It was an amazing picture and my gaffer even loved it despite his many years with optical finders.

Joe is incorrect. The original EVF has a resolution of 1280x848.

Stephen

Thanks, Stephen. I stand corrected.
