So, as a guy who buys used, I am wondering what does it matter how many hours are on the clock of, for instance, an Epic Dragon? Would you always buy the less hours model? Or does it really matter in the long term?

More important how those hours were used. If the camera was abused for 50 hours it may be in worse shape than one with a 1000 hours. That's why I think the Red transfer of ownership program is worth considering.

WAAAAY worth it to have the camera go through RED's process from both Buyer and Seller's perspectives, and you get a warranty as well. Payment of the evaluation fee and transfer fees are negotiable and without transfer no ability to get updates from REd STore site, AFAIK, anyway.

Thank you very much

My theory on electronics such as a camera is that if its going to fail, it'll fail in the first 50 hours, probably the first 10. However, for piece of mind, you should go through the evaluation process. When I sold my epic it had 1600 hours on it, all that it needed was a $100 fix to the lens mount board, so it's good for seller and buyer alike.
