  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hot Swap error- Red wants my Scarlet back!

Not every SCARLET-X is experiencing hot swap issues, no. And no, you do not all need to send your SCARLET-X back in for evaluation. I recommend saving a camera log file and contacting RED SUPPORT directly for assistance with troubleshooting.

Nick I got the same message as the OP - to send in the body + sidehandle. No log file was asked for either....
I can not afford to send in my camera now - it would be great to know what - if any - solution has been found for this as many people are having this issue.

Jack, I have visibility of the tech support ticket you filed last week. Please save a log file from your SCARLET-X and send it directly to me at nick-dot-grow-at-red-dot-com for analysis.

OK, will do as soon as I get it's back from a job. I just assumed it was going to be added in a future firmware upgrade, I didn't realize it was actually a defect.

I'm very curious about this. It seems like it's a very small minority of people that it does work with, not the other way around... Mine has worked once or twice hot swapping from AC to Redvolt but not very often. It always has worked hot swapping from Redvolt to AC though, automatically and smoothly switches over.

Is there any procedure that needs to be done for the log file to be useful? My hotswap failed when I tested it but that was last week. Should I try it again before I send in the log or can I just send it the way it is?

What is the latest on this? Is it truly a defect requiring the camera to be returned for correction? My camera is being processed and while I'm eager to get it, I don't want to receive a camera that is defective and will require a return.

I'm looking to order my side handle and unfortunately only 2 revolts with it

I'm currently using the quick back with IDX batteries

But I'm assuming when the side handle is attached you can't power the camera with the idx batteries and the side handle with the revolt at the same time?
has to be one or the other?

Daniel you can totally do both at the same time. Or side handle plus AC power, for instance.

I always keep a volt in the side handle even when using another power source, so the camera doesn't go down if someone pulls the wrong cable.

Thanks Mike

Thats awesome as I was worried it'd be one or the other

I Can only afford the side handle and 2 batteries but using them with the amount, I'm sure i'd be ok

I hope when it arrives, its the updated side handle so I don't get any hot sway errors
