currently i signed up for an amazon S3 and also have membership on hostgator (unlimited ftp and transfer)
what kind of methods do you guys using for hosting your media files on internet?

Promotional HD video goes onto vimeo. http://vimeo.com
Simian handles our larger library for sharing reels with agencies. http://www.gosimian.com/
Shotgun handles our internal status and review movies. http://shotgunsoftware.com
Old Pentium 4 Dell handles our FTP in house.

I use Vimeo for showcasing. But for ftp transfer and general website hosting for various sites I rent a Virtual Private Server, which gives me almost unlimited domains, bandwidth and storage, from Inmotion Hosting.

I don't mean to hijack this thread but it relates directly. I am in the process of building the backend of a media hosting service (photo/video/audio). What specific features do you find you need or want when you are selecting a place to upload? I'd like to incorporate as many useful features as possible into my service.

thanks for the answers..
Paul VPS costs is high for me whats the reason did you choose VPS over amazon S3 storage

I own and run multiple domains, I can set up ftp resources at will, resell sites and web design services and hosting, blah blah etc etc. The annualised cost is less than my bill for hard disk backup media.

Oh, and none of my data is in the cloud, waiting for some enterprising hacker to steal it.
