  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Mods, I really appreciate your work here, and totally understand keeping the politics and potentially flame-throwing topics out of this place, but...

closing Obin's thread about the "Home" movie - ???


This community has enormous potential in affecting our world and any positive messages spread to help changing it for the better should be ENCOURAGED and NOT CUT OFF.



Personal attacks on topics like that in a place like this are LESS IMPORTANT than THE TOPIC ITSELF.


Thread closing in this case was a moderator's easy route and a WRONG ROUTE.





Obin, respect.


This movie should be seen by everyone ASAP.

Looking at the thread it should be pretty self-explanatory why it was closed. People were getting rude and launching personal or generalized attacks based on ethnicity.

Yes, there are many pressing and important subjects out there, but this forum is about digital filmmaking with strong connections to RED. It is not about gun control, religion, sexual preferences, ecology, health care or freedom of speech.

I like some quality political, ethical discourse from time to time, but then there are places where I go to get that. When I come here, I want Red news, cine tech news, cinematography info, and some discussion of film content as it pertains to the art and craft of film making.

Personal diatribes and stone throwing I can do without, so bravo for shutting that stuff down IMO. I'm not for any kind of censorship, but this isn't a case for that argument.

Think of yourself as a guest in someone's home. Bitching about a thread being closed down is kinda like telling your host their bathroom smells like shit.

Wow... all I want is 2-4 minutes of aerials in my 1:30 hs. That is a heck-u'va-lotta aerials! Beautiful images!

Gyro-Stabilized Cineflex looks like a good way to go. Does someone know where I can find the manufacturer's website, or specs? It is sure to fit Epic, and with long power, recording, and monitoring cables... sounds like a good way to make the most out of your Heli+Cineflex rental time! All in the comfort of a heated/cooled cabin where you can focus on the image.
 
I was the 1st to post a positive reply to Obin's thread. And I am also the one that closed it.

This is not a library, it's a house party.

Library sites end in .gov or .org and the like. This is a .com. No, if this were a library, it would be the speculative fanboy posts that get closed. Ok they wouldn't be closed, just moved to fantasy-fiction.

Not for RED and not for Reduser community.


I've seen this before enough times in my profession. It doesn't have to be deliberate. It almost never is...








...and you may understand why closing that thread,
besides the huge loss of it's potential, may seem contradictory to many other good things, as well as to this:
