  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Holy Snikeies Adobe!!!!!!!

I would think that after you edit, in whatever rez you chooose you then export whatever flavor you like and all effects and transitions etc., are rendered in your output format.

Adobe/PC is the way of the future.

The Force is strong with Adobe.

As I recall the Scratch system can conform the entire timeline of a feature film from openning credits, to rear title crawl, with out a breaking a sweat. I don't know if an adobe suite can do that, but I look forward to trying.

I don't understand why many here are so scared about conforming.

Actually if this means that the Adobe workflow is Assimilate Scratch dependent is a BAD new.

If Adobe could counter Apple's purchase of Color by buying Scratch and tossing it into the studio it could be great. Might put the nail in the coffin of Final Cut for a lot of people.

If it's another $50,000 thing and Adobe contractually can't develop their own alternatives then a lot of people will just get Cineform and ditch R3D.

No reason to believe it's dependent on SCRATCH. My guess is that they will develop a smooth path from offline with PPRO to finishing with SCRATCH, and possibly with support for more than just EDL functionality. Autodesk has done something similar with FCP, but that doesn't mean you have to finish a FCP cut in Autodesk systems.

All I can say about Adobe ....

you ain't seen NOTHIN yet -

I am already looking forward to CS5 - SERIOUS.

Adobe on the Mac. Did I mention that before?

Yeah. What - is it optimized better than on PC? Like taking advantage of all 8 cores in all apps? Can you expand a little without violating the NDA? If Adobe and R3D work great on the Mac then I'm all in. I think Premiere is pretty cool an hopefully CS4 will shore up some of the deficiencies. And what about Audition? Has it finally caught up?

No I can't expand .. but I will tell you this ..

I don't invest in "is it optimized better"?

yes, I pay attention to that - and sometimes I have NO CHOICE but to buy a solution that get the job done now, fast. Something like the REDBOXX.

But that doesn't get me out of bed in the morning.

I invest in ROADMAP.

What is the roadmap for this company?
What is the track record of the key folks in the venture?
What is the track record of this company, or it's key folks, hitting it's targets and goals?
What is the likelyhood an competitor of this company beating them to the goal?

Long term. Long term. Long term.

Bet the jokey. Not the horse.

You can ride the horse ... but put your money on the jockey.

Wonder what apple is doing now...they have been given a time wayyy far ahead from anybody else.
