  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hive Lighting Wasp 100-C

BTW we use/control our Hive 100-C's via Luminair, which works GREAT.

And yes they mentioned the 200-C to us as well.

What else they have up their sleeve...I'm not sure!

Can you tell me more about using them with Luminair? One of my biggest complaints with the lights is how iffy the bluetooth enabled app is so I saw your comment and rushed to the App Store... only to find it is a $99 app! Which is fine if it is going to make my workflow on set better, but I'd like to know more before investing.

Can you share more about how using this app with them works? Pros/cons? Setup? etc.

Kyle Luminair is an industry standard APP for controlling your lights wirelessly. It integrates seamlessly with numerous fixtures out of the box (Arri Skypanels for example), and it's relatively easy to add other units via DMX.

Luminair opens up a whole world of possibilities that belies it's rather humble price tag.

My team have only scratched the surface of what's possible with this app.

I only have limited experience with DMX. I thought the Hive 100-C DMX was wired the wireless option is via bluetooth. How exactly do you use this app to connect to the 100-C? Do you have some sort of wireless DMX adapter you have to buy for each light? If so, what specifically do you use for your setup? Thanks!

Hey Kyle, yeah the Wasp 100-C can only be controlled wirelesly out of the box...via Bluetooth.

But if you hardwire it via DMX, you can setup your DMX system to be wireless...and then control everything via an Ipad.

I see, that will probably be a little too cumbersome for my on-site corporate shoots. Thanks for the info though!

I'm excited to get a 200-C. I saw a blurb that the antenna is for wireless DMX, but I could be wrong.

Sending my pair of 100-c's in tomorrow for servicing, will see what kind of additional info I can get from the guys in LA about the new lights.
