  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

When will the server crash?

Hahaaa... I have pulled my ban hammer from its velvet sheath and wiped it clean of all the spam-bot residue. Ready to swing!
 
Guys. Guys! I'm excited too, but we need to manage expectations here. I don't think the cameras are changing much and I don't think the prices are gonna fluctuate a hell of a lot either. I'm just hoping that I can get my hands on a Scarlet before 2010. Is that wishful thinking?

At least after 3pm this Forum will cease spam. And hopefully generate a new string of informative buying and technology decisions for us. Perhaps even to augment and enhance the different types of shooting we all look forward to.

From my last RED camera purchase I have patiently held off on any equipment purchases for any RED camera gear. (ok I did check out those carbon rails unless someone has a better suggestion).

Im feeling this assessment of the changes- small for the most part, However, I'm thinking its a good bet that I will be able to treat myself to one [Scarlet] for my next birthday, 05/30/10, but in the next 60 days? yeeeesh.... mayyybe some incarnation of Epic.. but Scarlet? probably not till Feb.

Although im perfectly willing to be suprised! ;-)
 
Where should we be looking for this announcement? I've been refreshing the Red.com and Reduser.net pages for the last half-hour. :)

It seems like today will reflect prices changes due subtle changes in the market (ie DSLRs). I hadn't been to Red.com for awhile but at some time they removed all the SMRP's from the Epic/Scarlet page.

But, judging from Jim's hints, cameras will be sometime next year.

I can wait, though I have a project next month that I'd love to experiment with a Scarlet as the second camera.

This has been done so many times before that it lost its luster. Now the only important news is WHEN Scarlet is going to be available for real. The new guys might be excited about an announcement but it doesn't mean much if we don't see the real thing. Renders mean nothing.
