  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hint...

I know there's a lot of whining and silliness mixed in, but you get testing and input from a wide body of users and potential users in a way that would be near to impossible in traditional research models. It makes you a better company (even when you say no) and it has made your product better.

Amen there.

Jim, Red Team, Keep-up the Good Work! The Beta testing is behind you now; I was not part of it! But I will part of the next generation. The next generation will be a release product from the GET-GO. Take as long as you need!

After that come the FF35, and God only knows what that will be like, but like always it will be beyond our expectations, I’m sure things that haven’t been invited yet, they may be in somebody’s drawing board, but you might not even know about it jet.

That’s the price of always being on the “cutting edge”, and sharing your thoughts with all us (at least part of your thoughts). I think you have built good loyal base for your Epic X35/S35, and they will go along the up-grade path with your Company, along with the rest of us that will eventually buy your products. I saw a picture on the local newspaper the other day, a picture for the new for Presidential Candidates in Costa Rica that are about to begin, and there was the Red One front and center in the photograph. I don’t know why I didn’t save the photo. You’re all over the world, whether of a one-of, or a Production Company in Vietnam, or a full Hollywood Production, that is just simply amazing. Well Done, the best is still to come!

It will be easier to wait once we know exactly what we're waiting on. Hopefully the announcement on the 30th will include projected release dates as well as finalized specs & prices.

Oddly I am feeling that I'll miss all the fun.
Who wants to date a perfect girl? I want a girl with issues! Who screams at me sometimes, and if I don't take good care of, eventually will leave me in the dark.
What's the fun of dating a perfect girl?

Clearly you enjoy dating Spanish women.

I am not in a position to be lucky enough to purchase an Epic or Scarlet anytime soon. We just ordered four Red Ones and they'll have to do for the next couple of years at least. I personally like Red Digital Cinema as a company. I want you guys to succeed and prove you can be transparent AND another great American success story. I hope the risks associated with trying to perfect your new product lines before selling any of them pays off. Heaven knows that's a unique approach. Thanks for the open and honest philosophy. I hope you sell a bunch of Epics. And, I hope Scarlets become to cameras what iPods are to music playing devices. Good luck.

Thanks for the update Jim.

Please make the first batch of Epic cameras BIG!!!!!!! :patriot:

Great news, gives us more time to wonder what's coming, "the price relax" qoute is music to my ears. Take your time we are all behind you..

Unless some other company makes EPIC before you guys do, I am in, and I will just have to wait for as long as it takes.

If you want a BETA tester in cold winter conditions, call me!

BTW:The 30th seems like an eternity.

Thanks for the update, Jim. The RED ONE was your proof of concept. Your "scam buster". And it rocked. But now you have the eyes of all industry professionals on you. Take your time, do it right. Because the floodgates are going to burst open with Scarlet and Epic.

But, of course, you know all this. ;)

Can't even wait. Hope your servers are ready to handle the craziness of the 30th. ;)

Jim-

I've groaned for a while now about RED not being to keep up with their own schedules. I never understood why this would happen. But now I do. A change of philosophy certainly merits delays, especially when that change is the elimination of the public beta process.

I patiently await your announcement on the 30th.

For Jim, who is around all of the RED equipment on a daily basis as well as all of the new stuff and experimental stuff, to say that "it is better than our wildest dreams" is very exciting to say the least! Keep dreaming Jim and RED team, I will to until i get one in my hands!

Thanks for the update! All good things come to those who wait....
Will be there for a Scarlet when it comes, Take your time... : )
- Really Excited about the new technology, and being part of imaging history!

Please Please please release the 2/3" fixed scarlet before the end of february!

IMHO, this is the right track

IMHO, this is the right track

In the professional space there is no substitute for bulletproof.

Integration with Apple, Adobe and Avid for post needs to be as mature as possible when the new cameras ship. Thanks to the penetration of the RedOne into the marketplace these companies should be motivated to support this.

Just my 2 cents.

Cheers - #19

I think you have to understand that when Red made the announcement, they were basically announcing what they were hoping to accomplish, and set out a timeframe that they were hoping to accomplish it in. They were being very upfront with their R&D plans.

This is different than other companies who develop the product quietly in house and when it's ready to go into production, they make an announcement and it's on the shelves in a month or two. Heck, with Apple, it's often the same day.

Those companies didn't develop their stuff in only a matter of months, often they've been working on it a year or more. Really, they take just as long as Red takes (make the proper adjustments for team and project size) to develop a product. It's just they aren't as up front as Red has been about what they are developing.
