Not sure where to post this...
I was just playing around today (first day off in a while) and checking out Build 15. THANK YOU RED for the multiple outputs. I do wish that one was "clean" so I could hook it up to a DVCPro HD deck for those really persnickety clients...
Anyway, I'm lovin' the highspeed. I did have a BUNCH of dropped frames though with a CF card. Shot 113 fps, 1/1000th, Redcode 28, 2K 2:1. Using the latest 15.2.1.7. Seemed to happen with a whip pan. Is it possible that this overwhelms the processor in the camera, like a scene with uber high detail? Maybe because 113 fps is really close to the ragged edge of card performance? I put in a different card and slowed down to 96 fps and all was well.
I will say that I could not produce skew at 2K no matter how fast I panned the camera or how skinny the shutter was. I know it's generally better at 2K, so I'll try later at 4K. I guess there was an improvement in the read/reset time?
I also notice that in 2K specular light in the shot takes on a slightly diffused look, rendering "bloomier" than at 4K (highlights on water etc.) Is this a windowed sensor/ OLPF thing? I could slush back to 13 and see if it was always there...
Comments? Anyone have issues or raves about Build 15?
Cheers,
Harry

edit: I did finally manage to produce a TINY amount of skew in 2K, but it really is almost not there at all...

Seconded, for ALL my clients!

Cheers,

Paul

its coming.....isn't it?....please

HD-SDI is clean IF you have both LCD and EVF connected. Be nice to be able to choose it as an option even with only one connected.

BUT it does (I believe, as I have no EVF to prove it) show the full 'look around' area but without a cage to show the recorded area, so what you record from it will not be the same as what the camera records. Anybody who does have an EVF want to confirm that?

What we'd like is the same image you get on playback through the HD-SDI, except not limited to playback.

On playback it feeds the full image width with no other stuff out the HD-SDI so it can be recorded. If this could be done live instead it would save the recording time after each shot that my clients are currently doing.

Cheers,

Paul

Yes, Paul, that's what I'm wishing for...
Cheers,
Harry

Clean feed 720p ?

Clean feed 720p ?

I'm sorry, I understand what you are asking for but we can't support that unless we were recording RGB (1080p or 720p) rather than RAW - this answer subject to change of course ;-)

Subject to change is always good around here :)

How about at least giving us what you apparently see with both EVF and LCD connected, that is no frame lines etc and just the look around area recorded as mentioned above? Then on an analogue monitor the image can maybe be magnified to record it as clean as possible within technical limitations?

Cheers for your efforts!

Paul

I guess that's another reason for me to wish for a special build that recorded 1080p scaled...
But I know we'll never see it...
It's a little clunky, but for those clients who need a quick turnaround, we could always bring 2 cameras and have one in the truck doing playbacks to the Sony SR deck or whatever.
I KNEW I should have bought 2 cameras! :)
Cheers,
Harry

BTW,
I slushed back to 13 and the "bloomy" artifact on bright edges went away. 2K and 4K.
Can anyone else test this to verify?
Cheers,
Harry
