I'm new to Final Cut Pro X, and am trying to figure out the best way to export the highest quality video. Can someone please help me with this...

Hello
If your using RED Files choose something like Prores 444 or similar for export.

If I am not mistaken, when you use the Master setting in the timeline Share menu, you automatically use the highest quality clips in the output. (Can't recall off hand just where I read that.)

I'm not sure if this is correct, Terry.

I could be wrong, but I think Master File settings connects with whatever you put as a render setting of your timeline/project.
So if your render sequence is a Prores LT, the default settings in your Master File tab will be Prores LT.
I think the Logic of the program is that then it can use your (potentially) already rendered footage for a quicker export.

But it's in that same settings tab that you can change it to Prores 444 or Uncompressed though.

What about debayering etc? I was thinking of this topic just recently. So everyone is saying make sure that the specific project settings are set for Prores 4444 before exporting and also change playback for optimal instead of better performance? So does FCPX select debayering preset automatically...?

I think I didn't explain that well. What I meant is that the highest quality clips will be used as the source for whatever output you choose.
