Hi everyone.
I'm from Brazil but have lived in LA, San Diego and in NYC for the past 5 years but I'm in São Paulo now and will be here for a few months.
I've been following the forum for a few weeks since I placed the order for a Scarlet. Love the forum and find it the best way to learn things besides shooting(only with a 5D).
I've been creating advertising spots for 12 years, but as a client since I'm an adverting art director. I had the great opportunity to have some of my spots shot with amazing DPs such as Jeff Cronenweth and Robert D. Yeoman. I'm trying to go back to my roots since I was a documentary photographer before becoming an art director, but now in motion. I want to shoot my own spots with help of some friends, the ones with smaller budgets and go from there, we'll see how it goes.
Cheers,
Felipe.

Cheers Felipe.

Interesting how many professionals like yourself and Kevin Glynn are making an adjustment in their career to a more hands-on way of working. The Scarlet is truly an empowering tool.

Thanks Elsie!
The good part in advertising is to go on a shoot, so I figured, I should be doing this more often...hehehe, will see though...
Cheers.

Welcome Felipe!

Fala Brasileiro. I have a similar story. I'm from Brasilia but live in Honolulu, Hawaii for the last 5 years. I'm moving to NYC in a couple of days and to São Paulo in April 2012.
I bought a Scarlet (number 92, received on the Dec, 20) and a lot of other stuff for shooting and post.
I went to film school and shot shorts in the U.S and China, before that I had an Information Design company for 13 years, my clients were the Federal Government of Brazil, Banks, and multinationals like Coca-Cola, AstraZeneca and McDonalds.
Let me know what are your plans. I'll be in "Sampa" for at least 7 months. maybe we can shoot some stuff together.

Feliz Ano Novo.

Scott, Joel, Sérgio, Luc, many thanks for all the welcome. I just can't stop checking this forum, I'm addicted to it already. Cheers.

Fala Paulo, beleza?!
Wow, you've been busy, good busy. Honolulu must be great. You must be having fun with that Scarlet, I think I'll see mine just next summer if I'm lucky, I placed my order on Dec. 10th :-(
I worked at Publicis NY for 4 years and at Kirshenbaum NY for a year, and before that at Dentsu and Duda in São Paulo. Now I'm in São Paulo dealing with some family stuff and freelancing in the mean time. You must know how advertising in Brazil can be crazy. I will be on a shoot this month for 2 spots we created here at Fischer. O2 is the production company, it'll be fun.
You're going to NY, I might go there soon, we could meet up there. And yeah, let's shoot something here in SP, I might move back to NY only in July.
Let's keep in touch velho.
Abração e feliz ano novo.

Felipe, if you read Jarred's post in the Reminder thread, you might be in for a surprise about the estimated end of backorders time :)
