Hi Jim and Red Team,

You must have been a little disappointed with the first reactions on this forum. You developped a revolutionary toy with Scarlet and the first reactions were (I feel) very negative.

But I understand those who overreacted. You made us dream so much during so much time. You even answered our questions sometimes making us dream even more. And some of us even began to think you were about to give them a pocket Red One 4k + multiple lenses pack all for less than 3000$ :weight_lift:

I spend a lot of time reading this forum or anything I can find about Scarlet. I talk about it all the time. What you did with the Red One and now with Scarlet and Red Epic is awesome !
And for people like me, you made dream come true. You can be sure this camera is gonna change a lot of things for me when I have mine.
You almost became like our best friends. Don’t laugh, it’s true…
I was counting on you and you did not disapoint me at all. You guys rock !

But, most of the time with good friends, we just forget to say what is the most important…

THANK YOU GUYS FOR THE TREMENDOUS JOB YOU MADE !!!
I CAN’T WAIT TO BUY ONE

Hope I made myself clear cause I’m French and my English sucks…

I second the Thank You. This will be revolutionary. just take the criticism with a grain of salt. Everyone here is excited with the camera, and people are mainly trying to give their input for the final design of the camera. They want to be part of the development process of the camera, just like the RED ONE users are on the RED ONE.

With or without interchangeable lens, or a FCP immediately editable high quality proxy, I'm in.

I'm confident on the Dinamic range, lens mounting options for 35mm adapters as well as the low light performance, because RED as delivered in every way with these in the RED ONE.

Once again, a big hurrah for this team of nutcases- whoops- geniuses that are giving power back to the talent. You're the true voice for the camera- and filmmaking -democracy !

From an old man….Thanks Jim and the Red Term

From an old man….Thanks Jim and the Red Term

I just spend three day at NAB and visited the Red Booth everyday. This is my 40th year as a Producer/Director in the Film Business and I have never met a nicer bunch of guys who were totally honest and knew their stuff. Over these past three days I questioned them on the Red One, Scarlet and Epic and workflow, lens etc. I am blown away on what I saw and heard.

I wish I had these cameras and software when I started out 40 years ago. The young filmmakers that are starting out today: Jim and his team have given them an unbelievable jump start to their careers.

So if they don’t understand the great gift you have given them than let me say thanks again Jim and the whole RED team.

See you next year.

Bob

That's exactly how I feel. I can't wait to get my hands on scarlet.

Thanks for all you've done RED team.

Ash

The team has been great! I'm more than happy with the level of service that RED has provided me.

I commend the staff at Forest Lake, especially Dan Duran, who always responds to my inquiries in a timely and friendly manner.

Congratulations, RDC, on your success and I look forward to purchasing more of your products.

Thank You

Thank You

To the Red Team,

as an aspiring filmmaker I am so thankful for what you are making possible. Keep up the great work, I am really looking forward to using Red cameras in the future.

Matt

I've said it many times in many threads here. I really consider Scarlet a gift from the Red team. It will enable me, on a limited budget, to produce images of a much higher quality than I ever dreamed of. It may be selfish, but I consider Scarlet to be designed just for me. It has everything I could ask for in a camera at a price I can afford. I look forward to the day when Scarlet arrives on my doorstep.

A huge THANK YOU to Jim and the entire Red team for making my dreams come true!

cheers mates

Hope I made myself clear cause I’m French and my English sucks…
Loud and clear. Your english is great. Better than most our french. Allez les blues

Ohw I understand. RED is my life now. I cant even believe I though about buying a Varicam not so long again.

Seriously, even if panasonic or sony came out with the exact same camera as the Red One, Scarlet or Epic. Exactly the same features, maybe even better. At the same price or cheaper (now that is far fetched huh) I wouldnt even want to buy their camera because what Red is doing here is phenomenal, in an industry like ours.
These are actually honest people, an honest company, not driven by greed and sales targets (im sure they have them in the back of their minds as any business needs them)
But I really feel humbled by whats happening here and its sad all the negativity lately, but thats just people getting carried away. we often use a saying, "give em a hand, they take an arm", guess its human nature. But RED has given us all their limbs.
Just imagine it. Little old me can post a question about Red cameras and Jim might look at it and maybe answer it. Firstly I dont even know the sony and panasonic ceo's names, let alone expect them to listen to what I have to say.

I have respect for all the guys who put deposits down, at the same stage as scarlet/epic are now. You took a risk (calculated) I wish I had the balls (this is the biggest investment of my life so forgive me if I was cautious hehe)
At that time though it was a concept, a promise, a dream. NOW its reality and I am confident cause there are 3000 others before me saying Yeah Its Great. only a tiny handful of bad apples. I guess the scarlet reactions are due to the change from believing in a concept to having red one to base it on.

I dont post much, but i read a lot. (probably longest post now) Im getting more and more excited as the summer nears. I believe it will change my career, as I have decided this is what I want to pursue. I have always dreamt about a camera like the red one and here it is and it aint expensive.

A massive THANK YOU to JIM and the RED TEAM (especially the team cause they make the dreams come true)

(damn i could have just said "here here". sorry guys)

It is constructive to voice an opinion, make a suggestion and want to contribute but we have to understand that many times everything can’t be changed to our liking. Again, we have to look at the Scarlet as it stands right now and say: Wow, this a lot of bang for $3k! If it has a fixed lens glued to it, fine, make the most of it. Thrust me it can be done.
We have to support team Red’s effort. We need them to succeed because at the end we are the big winners. Thanks Jim Jannard and company, keep up the good work!

Ditto to all of the great thoughts in this thread.

I'm just hoping to be lucky enough to get ahold of a scarlet when it comes out. I'm not even thinking twice. For the money it is unbeatable. And the fact that RED is so closely tied with their customers makes one less cynical about business in general.

I think Panasonic does a good job too, but not nearly as concerned with the needs of filmmakers in particular. (not to disparage panny. They are great; for a company of their size what Jan does is amazing. But, Red takes the cake. No question IMHO.)
